More than 2,000 students nationwide attended World Vision’s Virtual Youth Summit

 

World Vision recently held its Virtual Youth Summit with 2,300 student attendees from various parts of the country. The online event was streamed via Facebook live on World Vision Philippines’ official Facebook page.

Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, World Vision remained committed to fulfilling its mission of empowering the young generation. This summit was organized to provide a platform to discuss relevant and critical issues among the Filipino youth that need to be addressed today.

The topics and speakers during the Virtual Youth Summit are “The Effect of the Pandemic to the Mental Health of the Youth” by Dr. Gia Sison of Women’s Wellness Center in Makati Medical Center, “Servant Leadership and Youth Development” by Althea Antonio of 2030 YouthForce, “The Impact of COVID 19 to the Philippine Economy” by JC Punongbayan of UP School of Economics, and “Social Awareness and Youth Empowerment” by World Vision Ambassador Janina Vela. It ended with a message from United Nations Refugee Agency Goodwill Ambassador, Atom Araullo, with a challenge to the youth to be strong and fearless and to take the lead for change.

“Aligned with our mission to enable, empower and nurture Filipino youth volunteers and organizations to secure a sustainable, fueled, and purpose-driven volunteerism for our citizenry, the National Youth Volunteers Coalition fully supports the initiative of World Vision that will tackle the important aspect of Servant-Leadership and Youth Empowerment and Development during this time of pandemic”, expressed Franz Reimart Averion, National President and CEO of National Youth Volunteers Coalition.
